Objectives:
1. Network building between guides and villagers
2. Awareness raising about what other possibilities there are for tourism
3. Exchange lessons how on to use tourism for nature conservation
Annette will be the GDL representative at the world's largest tourism trade fair in Berlin this year. We are very lucky to be part of the Lao delegation of the NTAL (National Tourism Authority of Laos) and for Annette it will be a pleasure to introduce the Lao guests to her home city.
Dr. Volker Schoeffl and his team were permitted to climb the karst in the Special Zone. The team of 4 people from Germany put up routes in Long Tien, the base of the secret American bombers in the II Indochina War and a town that has been off-limits to travelers since the Lao revolution.
The private sector was given the opportunity to present their views at this month's meeting at the National Tourism Authority of Laos in Vientiane. Inthy and Annette introduced Green Discovery Laos, its acitivities, customers and marketing strategies to an attentive Lao and international audience.
A must for every climber in Vang Vieng and the only book of its kind to the first area of this kind, written by Dr. Volker Schoeffl and produced by us.
The core of the Nam Fa team has stayed on in Vang Vieng to train the white water guides and to produce some memorable photographs for the Nam Ngum customers (great use to our marketing materials!) Lincoln is a long-time kayaker with vast experience from working in Japan, Australia, NZ, France, GB etc. Gabe is producing pix and videos on GDL activities.
Inthy, a team of Lao novices and a group of passionate kayakers from Japan rafted down the Nam Fa, a white water river in the remote province of Luang Namtha Province. The trip features breathtaking rapids, pristine jungle before the Nam Fa flows into the Mekong. Here, where it forms the border to Myanmar. Besides being an exhilarating and very scenic adventure, camping in the forest was cccoooollld!
