This one day biking tour will afford you an amazing discovery on the edge of Phou Hinboun, encounter some of the most beautiful limestone landscapes of the country. The biking tour will be led by experienced local guides that will explain you all about local stories, beliefs & caves while listening the songs of birds. Departure at 08:00 from our office in the heart of Thakhek. After getting out of the town towards Mahaxay with our bikes, we will quickly escape the main road and its amazing sceneries to enter into our secret garden: the famous limestone forest of Phou Hinboun.
Through a nice trail used by the French to set up a railway to Vietnam (never finished), we will ride for around 8km to Buddha cave. Visit of the cave rediscovered in April 2004 by a local farmer where several bronze Buddhas are crammed. Then, our trip snakes in and out between limestone reliefs, local villages. Some stops along the way will teach you on the local rural daily life before reaching another great isolated cave of Khampachan and a nice old stupa besides Ban Phalem. Back in daylight for lunch in Ban Doei with a local family.
Return back by the same way for few kilometers, before using a small path that leads us to Tha Falang, a famous spot where the French was used to chill out during their week end. It will be as well time for us to relax and to swim after our efforts.
Then, it will be time to jump on our bikes to ride back to Thakhek.
Note: The trip is doable in the dry season from October to May.
