The Nam Pakan is perfect for a great one day adventure. This river has a few small rapids. The water is clear and clean as it flows and swirls past caves and limestone mountains.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Thakhek - Ban Tad Konkeo - Thakek
Departure from Green Discovery Laos at 8:30 am. We drive 45 minutes on a paved and further 20 minutes on a dusty road to our starting point at Ban Tad Khonkeo, a Lao Loum village. We briefly visit the village before going up to the small Khon Keo River where we have an orientation on the kayaks. Next are one and a half hours kayaking. We stop to visit a cave and then come back for a swim in the clear refreshing river before having a picnic lunch.

In the afternoon we pass a few rapids (depending on the river level). Along the way note the interesting rock formations - one in particular looks like the head of an eagle. Who will be the first to spot it? Enjoy the rest of this kayaking experience until we get to our final exit point at the Nam Pakan Bridge. All of us pack our gear for the transport back to Thakhek, which lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Approximately: 1 ½ hour transfer/ 5 hours trekking
