Unseen Village Experience

(2 day treks, dry season)

Unseen VillageTrek to a sacred hidden village called Bouloo. There is only one way in and one way out during rainy season creating a little shangri-la almost in accessible to the outside world. Once inside, see the blue lagoon with caves and camp on the beach. Explore a cave with underground lakes and stalagmites and stalactites.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Thakhek - Ban Sana - Ban Bouloo - Camp site

Depart from Green Discovery Laos office in Tha Khek, we drive about 2 hours to Ban Huana. We visit the remnants of temples at Ban Huana and take in some local life before leaving for the trek. We start trekking into the forest pass high shady trees and sloped mountains with breathtaking views, see different types of trees and wild orchids. We continue trekking to Ban Sana for lunch with local villagers.

Booloo Village

After lunch, we trek pass Ban Booloo Village along the steady trail into the midst of the encompassing forest to the lagoon. The beach of the lagoon is where we will have dinner and camp overnight.

Approximately: 2 hours transfer/ 5 hours trekking

Day 2: Camp site - Ban Nathan - Thakhek
After breakfast at camp, we kayak (optional, take a boat ride) to explore the cave (Thum Koun Booloo). For the novice cavers this introduces us to the thrill of cave explorations. Its hidden corridors are filled with seemingly endless stalagmites and stalactites beside underground lakes, deep wells and up to 80 meters high cave chimneys. The sunlight beams through the roof top opening of the cave. Wind blows constantly on the mouth of the cave. After exiting the cave, we enjoy a cool swim at the blue lagoon before trekking on to Booloo Village for lunch.

After lunch, we’ll see the footprint of what remains of this ancient temple. We trek into the rain forest along the winding path and go into the Luang Cave (villagers use this as the main route to the outside world) to catch our transport vehicle to return back to Tha Khek.

Approximately: 1 ½ hour transfer/ 3 and ½ hours trekking/ 2 hours kayak or boatVillages

Note: The trip can only be done during the dry season from October to May
