Depart from Luang Prabang, we drive to our trekking starting point at Ban Vang Lae, a Leu village. From here we take a fishing boat to cross the Nam Ou River and trek through forest and rice fields.
We climb to a hidden cave called Pha Long Cave which was used as bomb shelter during the Second Indochina War. We then continue to Ban Kok at the Mekong River for lunch.
After lunch, we cross the Mekong River with a local fishing boat to Ban Muang Keo for a visit. We continue trekking through forest to the Pak Ou Caves (the "1000 Buddha Cave") and visit both, the 'upper' and the 'lower' cave. From here we paddle to Ban Xang Hai, where the villagers produce Lao lao (Lao whisky) in a traditional style. A pick-up takes us back to Luang Prabang
