The support vehicle (tuk-tuk) will follow soon with luggage and water. Lunch on the way. On this first day, we cycle 59 km over the mountains through the Nam Ha National Protected Area to Muang Sing. The slope up to Kiew Lom Pass is long and gradual. Once we reach the top of the pass, it will be a swift descent to the valley floor. Once we checked into the guesthouse, go for a stroll to see what's up in the town. A traditional Tai Leu dinner is served at a Tai Leu restaurant.
Approximately: 5-6 hours biking
End of 1 day tour: For the hard bikers, you may like cycle back to Luang Nam Tha the same day. For those who want something easy, the support vehicle can take you to the top of the pass and you can coast down to Muang Sing and later do the same on the way back. We will pass through Ban Boong Kawp, another Akha village, and Ban Phoudonthan, an Iu Mien village. We have lunch at a guesthouse near the Chinese border.
After lunch, we ride up to the border. We turn around and go back on the road for a short while before turning right, while leaving the road once again. We ride through 4 different Akha villages until coming back to the road at Ban Nakham, a Tai Leu village. Return to the guesthouse in Muang Sing. Dinner is served at the Tai Leu Guesthouse.
