On this tour you can choose to tour the Muang Sing Valley visiting That Xieng Dueng, a Tai Leu Stupa, Tai Leu, Akha, Io Mien and Hmong ethnic villages. This trip has many options. Our guide will work with you to design a trip tailored to your group's wishes. It is possible to pedal to the Chinese Frontier or Burmese border. In Muang Sing you can visit the bustling town market in the morning, learn about the history of Muang Sing at the visitor center and see the former French fort. You have the choice to pedal back to Luang Namtha on the third day. On the return it will be a hard cycling uphill for two hours and then a long coast before finally reaching the Luang Namtha Valley. The tour includes food and accommodation (Stupa Mountain Lodge) as well as luggage transport. A support vehicle is included.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Luang Namtha - Kiew Lom Pass – Muang Sing (on road, 59 Km)
The tour starts at the Boat Landing Guesthouse or the Green Discovery office in town. After a short orientation on the use of mountain bikes, we will start cycling on the road to Muang Sing. The support vehicle (tuk-tuk) will follow soon with luggage and water. Lunch on the way. On this first day, we cycle 59 km over the mountains through the Nam Ha National Protected Area to Muang Sing. The slope up to Kiew Lom Pass is long and gradual. Once we reach the top of the pass, it will be a swift descent to the valley floor. Once we checked into the guesthouse, go for a stroll to see what's up in the town. A traditional Tai Leu dinner is served at a Tai Leu restaurant.

Approximately: 5-6 hours biking

End of 1 day tour: For the hard bikers, you may like cycle back to Luang Nam Tha the same day. For those who want something easy, the support vehicle can take you to the top of the pass and you can coast down to Muang Sing and later do the same on the way back. Total distance is 59 km one way (Approximately: 1 ½ hour transfer/ 6 hours cycling)

Day 2: Muang Sing – Chinese border - Muang Sing (on and off road, 35 Km)
We visit the market before breakfast. After breakfast, we start pedaling at 8:30 back towards Luang Namtha. We cycle 6 km up the Stupa Mountain to visit Muang Sing’s most sacred site. Then we go back down on the road and on to Ban Sop I Mai, an Akha village, where we will leave the road and ride along the foot of the hills towards the Chinese border. We will pass through Ban Boong Kawp, another Akha village, and Ban Phoudonthan, an Iu Mien village. We have lunch at a guesthouse near the Chinese border.

After lunch, we ride up to the border. We turn around and go back on the road for a short while before turning right, while leaving the road once again. We ride through 4 different Akha villages until coming back to the road at Ban Nakham, a Tai Leu village. Return to the guesthouse in Muang Sing. Dinner is served at the Tai Leu Guesthouse.

Approximately: 5- 6 hours biking

End of 2 days tour: You may opt to ride to Luang Namtha (Distance 59 Km; Time approximately 1 ½ hour transfer / 6 hours cycling)

Day 3: Muang Sing (on and off Road 30 Km, optional) – Luang Namtha
We start in the morning by riding for a while on the road back to Luang Namtha. But before reaching the Stupa Mountain, we turn left to go to Ban Koum to visit a rice liquor distillation. We then pedal on small back roads to Ban Yaluang, an Akha village, and further across hills and fields to 3 other Akha villages. We have an Akha lunch in Ban Houeina Gang before crossing the hills around the valley. We finally ride back into Muang Sing. Trip ends here. The group can ride back on the support vehicle to Luang Namtha or stay in Muang Sing.
