The Lao coffee capital 2 days trek << Back

These 2 days trekking you will experience the Tat Fane and Dong Hau Sao National Protected Area (NPA). Tat Fane is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Laos, with parallel streams from the Huay Banglieng River plunging out of dense forest and down more than 1200 meters. Tat Fane is at the edge of the 1100-sq-km Dong Hua Sao NPA where the trekking trails are the best and perhaps the only way to get into the park. Dong Hau Sao is home to a healthy population of tigers, though you are more likely to see monkeys, gigantic butterflies and in the wet season, dozens of great hornbills who like to hang out at the bottom of the falls.

Itinerary:
Day 1

Departure from Green Discovery Laos, Pakse office, at 8:30 pm, we drive pass local tea and coffee plantations along the Bolaven Plateau. We stop to view Tad Fan waterfall situated at the edge of Dong Hau Sao protected area. Next, we drive 20k to Ban Nong Luang where we meet our local guide, who will teach you about the animals and traditional medicine. We walk through coffee farms and mixed bamboo and jungle forests. Lunch is served at a small waterfall. After lunch we continue walking to Tad Taget waterfall about 1 ½ hour. We walk down the mountain about 40 minutes to where we set up camp there for the night. Rest and enjoy a cool swim in the beautiful spot.

Approximately: Trekking 4 – 4 ½ hours/ transfer 1 ½ hour

Day 2:
After breakfast we trek uphill through the National Biodiversity Conservation Area (NBCA) of Dong Hua Sao. This NBCA shares its southern border with Vietnam and Cambodia. You will hear birds singing all a long the way. If you are lucky you will see monkeys along your trail. We stop for lunch at the Tad Kamue waterfall. After lunch we trek for about 1 ½ hour to Danh Ngai Limestone cliffs and a view of Champasak Province. We return to Ban Nong Luang from a different trail about 1 ½ hour and get onto the vehicle to Pakse at about 5:30 pm.

Approximately: Transfer 1 ½ hour/ trekking 6 – 6 ½ hours
