We depart from Vientiane, drive north along the road No 10. After 45 km, we reach Ban Napheng where we will see the sign for the National Park of Phou Khao Khouay. From here we begin to ride on a dusty road until we get to a checkpoint for entry permit. We enjoy the best part of our ride from here!
We follow the dusty and hilly road until we reach the top of the mountain covered by pine trees (900m ASL). On the way up we have great views over the Vientiane plain. We then take a rocky trail for a short fun ride before we go back on an easier one.
We continue to drive around the Nam Ngum reservoir. We will make a stop at the Hmong village of Ban Pa Pek, where we will have a late lunch. We also have time to visit the village of Ban Vang Hua. After that, we ride back to the Ban Napheng where we meet the Road No. 10 for our journey back to Vientiane.

It is highly recommended wearing proper protection while riding bikes in Laos like anywhere else.
All bikes come with a good performance helmet. However, your guide will at his discretion refuse any biker without adequate body equipment, depending of the chosen route.
In some instances (Rocky road, muddy dirt road, jungle ride, etc..) your guide will want you to wear complete protection gear.
Of course, you can bring along and use your own equipment but GDL can also provide you with a minimum protecting set that includes gloves, boots and upper body protection at a rate of 10 dollars per day.
Other equipment can also be hired on request. (Camel bags, goggles, rain jackets, off road jackets, etc…)
