Study tours for international schools
“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.” Alvin Toffler
Study tours by students from a different cultural background and all ages are choosing Laos as prime destination are increasingly gaining popularity. The participants learn about different, often fading cultures, about history and village technology. They build ties with people who themselves never had the chance to stray far beyond their own community boundary.
Our goal is to develop and offer programs and services responding to the needs of young people and communities which we serve, to challenge the young people to develop their talents, intellectual interests, and creative abilities, thus providing a stimulus for a lifelong learning, critical evaluation and wise decision making.
The Role of Green Discovery:
Over the years Green Discovery has acquired the capacity and good record organizing entire packages from sightseeing to community-immersion to make the visit a real success and experience of a lifetime.
GDL is proud to count among its satisfied clients schools and universities from Japan, Hongkong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Laos itself as well as tour companies specialized on cultural exchange programs like World Challenge with teenagers from the UK and Australia. The feedback from the students’ side is overwhelmingly positive as it is from the respective villages visited. More importantly, most of these exchange visits evolved into a regular with one or more groups coming to Laos every year.
With a little input from you regarding your wishes and expectations we care for the complete planning of the itinerary and all the logistics such as transport, accommodation, paper works, liaison with villagers and local people of interest, team building activities, trekking and more. Our guides have the motivation and experience to even go steps further whenever flexibility is needed to perfect the tour.
All study tours can be extended to full-fledged adventure tours if wanted, using either the extensive range of packages in the program of Green Discovery Laos or tailor them individually. Although the group size may be “unlimited”, the “carrying capacity” of some destinations surely needs to be taken into consideration in the planning to render the tour the envisioned success and joy (e.g. with village immersion).
Some well-tried activities and the benefits:
The students themselves are assisting villagers in small village projects like school or temple beautification and small construction work, learning much about traditional life while staying with a local family. Many of the hosts are still deeply anchored in centuries old ways of life and know much about forest medicines and natural food supplies, and preserved elsewhere forgotten technical skills. Local students are keen to challenge their visitors in some sports activities, storytelling or singing together or to learn some English - however small it may be - and about life in the visitor’s home country. These are surely tools to tighten the ties between locals and visitors – thus being integral part of youth development: motivation, importance of learning and sharing, self-respect and respecting others, to value the achievement s of others and so on.
